Level: Beginner to Intermediate.
Drew from Sydney Hair & Makeup Co has carefully designed the Beginner Hairstyling Workshop for people who would like to make a start in hairstyling, beginning with the fundamentals in Hairstyling, The fundamentals are important to learn properly early on in your hairstyling career which will help you further along in your career and in further hairstyling workshops or courses.
The course will cover everything you need to know about hairstyling, along with a number of hairstyles and techniques that will help improve or start your hairstyling career. All students will learn tricks of the trade and how to improve, speed up their hairstyling techniques.
The workshop is fast paced and hands on - look and learn based with step by step training and guidance. Each student will have the opportunity to get hands on experience for each hairstyle and technique along with one on one attention during the workshop. The class atmosphere is relaxed but fast paced at the same time as Drew's aim is to provide you with many techniques, steps and hairstyles.
Students are encouraged to ask questions during the course and no question is a wrong question. All students who complete the workshop will walk away confident with all the knowledge they have gained in the hairstyling workshop. Students will walk away not only learning new techniques or hairstyle but will also learn about tools, hair products, tips and tricks in hairstyling.
Hairstyling Kit: All students will receive a hairstyling goodie bag to take home and use during the course.
About the Trainer: Drew from Sydney Hair & Makeup Co has over 15+ years in hairstyling. Drew is a Specialist in Hairstyling, she has hair styled many weddings, occasions, has worked on film sets, fashion shows and photoshoots etc… With her ample experience in hairstyling, eye to detail and extensive training all over Australia, she will be able to give to you her secrets and techniques.

Foundations:
1. Prepping/Products/Tools/Pins/Padding
- Prepping the hair: How to prepare hair.
- Products: Which products to use and when.
- Tools: Tools of the trade and when to use the correct tool.
- Pins & Padding: Types of pins and padding. When, where and how to place pins and padding.
(Note: Students may already know the above, but I will touch base on this throughout the course)
2. Planning/Sectioning/Parting:
- Planning: Plan out hairstyle prior to styling.
- Sectioning: Importance of sectioning and where to section.
- Parting: Fringe Parting, Vertical Parting and Horizontal Parting.
(Note: Students may already know the above, but I will touch base on this throughout the course)
3. Back Combing:
- Back Combing: How to and when to back comb and how to tease hair correctly.
(Note: I will teach my back combing technique at the beginning of the class to ensure clean work throughout the course)

HAIRSTYLES:
1. How to Curl: - Students will learn how to curl with a hair straightener
2. How to Braid: - Students will learn how to do the dutch braid which is used in many hairstyles.
3. Half Up Hairstyle: - Learn how to do two type of half up hairstyles.
4. Classic Low Bun: - Classic Low Bun with Padding.
5. Hollywood Waves: Students will learn how to curl, style and create the most requested hairstyle over the last few years.

STUDENT CHECKLIST:
What students need to Bring:
1. Mannequin Head: Human Hair Mannequin. All mannequin heads must be washed and blow dried straight. (No products to be applied) Medium to long length hair or longer (no short hair as it will limit your hair styling) Mannequin head holder (Preferable a stand)
2. Hair Straightener: Any brand hair straightener.
3. Tongs: Hot Tong Barrel: 25mm/1inch Note: Or anything close to the mentioned size.
4. Hairstyling Kit: You may bring your existing hairstyling kit but many items will be provided for you in your goody bag.

Sydney H&M Co Checklist
What students receive:
1. Hairstyling Goody Bag: ALL students will receive a take home goody bag with all the hair styling products and items that are needed on the day and that Drew personally has in her hairstyling kit. (You will find out what is in your goodie bag on the day)
2. Certificate: All students will receive a Sydney Hair & Makeup Co Beginner Hairstyling Workshop Certificate of Completion.
3. Giveaways/Sponsors: All students attending the workshops will have a chance to win prizes on the day.
Note: Lunch will be provided
